The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is one of the pivotal and most popular choral services of the year. For many, it marks the beginning of Christmas.
The Odorkor Official Town Assemblies Of God held it carols on 24th December, 2019, the event treated the audience to a great night of carols thereby putting them straight into the Christmas mood.
Melodies filled the ears of congregants at the Christmas Carol Service in the church auditorium. There was a festive feeling in the church as carols were ministered by different choirs.
The structure of the service, which started quite on time, entailed the usual nine passages of Scripture.
The lessons – which cover the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus – was read by representatives from various departments in the church.
Ps. Larry Woode a member of the church board explained the significance of the birth of Christ since it paved the way for mankind
to be saved from their sins.
The lessons was firstly read by Pastor Prince Afful and gracefully ended by a member of the youth ministry Selgelia Okine.
The head pastor of the church shared a word of exhortation that Christmas is characterized by joy. He averred that although the festive season signifies the birth of Jesus Christ, it should be a time to reflect on the important things saying it is “a time when we can look back on the year passed and prepare for the coming year.”
